A Deeper Look Into The 2019 Gibson Range

The Haworth team and I have really been enjoying having Gibson and Epiphone guitars and basses back in our stores after some recent changes in distribution here in Australia created some difficulty for some time.

But now the iconic brand we all know and love is back and better than ever with the some amazing models having landed in our stores during 2018 across the entire range of Les Paul, SG, Memphis, Designer Series, Montana and Bass guitars.

In this article we will take a look at the highly anticipated 2019 Gibson range and what exciting new developments Gibson have made to their all-star line up.

2019 Gibson Les Paul

Seven models make up the 2019 Gibson Les Paul range including the Les Paul Standard, Les Paul Classic, Les Paul High Performance (HP), Les Paul Studio, Les Paul Studio Tribute, Les Paul Junior Tribute DC and the Les Paul Traditional.

Gibson 2019 Les Paul Standard
Gibson Les Paul Standard 2019 Seafoam Green

The 2019 Les Paul Standard takes the classic Les Paul we know and love and adds the ultra-modern weight relief to make it more user-friendly. It also looks stunning with a gorgeous AAA figured maple top and sounds amazing with the Burstbucker Pro pickups with push/pull controls on the volume and tone pots for an incredibly wide array of tones. The 2019 LP Standard also comes standard with an asymmetrical slim taper mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard and cream binding plus Grover Locking Rotomatic machine heads with keystone buttons.

Gibson 2019 Les Paul Traditional
Gibson Les Paul Traditional 2019 Heritage Cherry Burst

For the traditional Les Paul fans out there, the Les Paul Traditional keeps it real with it’s non-weight relieved body, AA figured maple top, vintage deluxe machine heads and Burstbucker humbucker pickups. The 2019 LP Traditional also has a rounded mahogany neck with traditional rolled cream binding along a rosewood fretboard.

With ultra-modern weight relief, chrome hardware, clear top-hat volume and tone knobs, adjustable titanium nut, asymmetrical slim taper mahogany neck with access heal and an AAA+ figured maple top, the 2019 Les Paul HP is here to impress.

A big change for the 2019 LP High Performance is the absence of the robot tuners and the addition of Grover Locking Rotomatic tuners with keystone buttons.  The LP HP produces that classic LP tone with a modern twist with its Burstbucker Pro humbucker pickups with push/pull controls.

Gibson 2019 Les Paul Classic

The 2019 Les Paul Studio is a no-nonsense Les Paul without some of the finer aesthetic detailing which the LP Standard and LP Traditional models have become known for. With a maple top on mahogany body, ultra-modern weight relief, black speed knobs, chrome plated hardware, slim-tapered mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard with white traditional rolled binding and the powerful 490R (neck) and 490T (bridge) humbucker pickups with coil-tap, the Gibson Les Paul Studio for 2019 is all about that classic tone and playability.

Taking the 2019 Gibson Les Paul Studio and stripping down the model even more by giving it that more bare-bones look and feel, the 2019 Gibson Les Paul Studio Tribute is one of the most affordable Les Paul models Gibson has ever produced.

With key features we love such as the bold-sounding 490R and 490T exposed humbucker pickups, ultra-modern weight relief mahogany body with maple cap, satin finishing, rounded maple neck with rosewood fretboard and the vintage deluxe tuners, the 2019 Gibson Les Paul Studio Tribute is all value and no nonsense.

Wrapping up

Gibson is one of those iconic brands who don’t need to reinvent the wheel. We’ve seen some previous innovations disappoint some tried and true Gibson fans and I think Gibson have learned from this and have taken this on board when designing their range of 2019 guitars and basses.

From what we’ve seen, Gibson have a killer line up of electric, semi-hollow, acoustic and bass guitars as part of their 2019 range, which have subtle but useful improvements. For more information of the range or to tell us your thoughts send us an email at haworthguitars@haworthguitars.com.au

Until we meet again….

Rock on and keep in touch with us here at Haworth’s,
